Our Tuesday evening sessions are an hour long and we can cover distances of between 4.5 - 5.5 miles depending on abilities. Front runners loop back so that they can go faster and further whilst keeping the group together, and that's why we often say to new members that speed is not important.
We will also mix up the session with hill reps or speedwork about once a month. In the summer months we also put on half marathon training which builds up from 6 miles to about 12 on Sunday mornings - this first started when quite a few of our members entered the Great North Run, but other autumn half marathons are available too that are easier to get places in, so we have kept this tradition going and it's been well attended. We also offer ad hoc trail runs - these are usually about 5 - 7 miles in distance and will cover areas across the rural Lancashire countryside and fells. (Usually with a Tea shop visit at the finish!) |
