Motivation
If losing weight, firming up your wobbly bits, reducing your risk of heart disease (ditto osteoporosis and cancer), boosting brain power and reducing stress levels isn't enough to get you out the door you might like to try the following:
Leave your kit ready. If your sports bra is in the wash or you can't find your shoes, it's easy to use that as an excuse.
Put your kit on. If you've donned your trainers and squeezed into that lycra, you might as well go.
Tell yourself you'll just go for fifteen minutes. You will probably have changed your mind by the time you get to that point.
Run with a friend. It's much harder to dip out if you're going to let someone down.
Promise yourself Mars Bar, cake or whatever your poison is, at the end. You've probably burnt enough calories anyway.
Keep a chart. There's nothing like plotting your progress to incentivise yourself.
Set a goal. Enter a race or find a Parkrun to do.
Keep it varied: try a different route, a challenge (pick up speed for 50 paces when you spot say, a red car) or play a game.
Buy some new kit. You just have to wear it straightaway don't you?
And if you simply can't face the great outdoors - head for the gym!
