5 reasons to run with Women on the Run
1. Running is easier in a group
We've heard people say "I just can't run, I've tried but I just can't". Well we don't believe that. With enough motivation and in the right environment, anyone can not just do it but enjoy it!
The difference with a group is that there is always someone running at your pace, keeping you going. At Women on the Run, we stick together so that everyone gets the most out of their run.
2. It helps you stay committed
Most people start exercising with the best of intentions and then life gets in the way. With a weekly group, you know you've made a commitment to your fellow members and it forces you to stick with it.
The only workout you regret is the one you don't do. Whatever day you've had, however you feel, grab your trainers and come and join us - we promise you'll be glad you did.
3. Safety
Running on your own has its hazards, particularly in the winter when it gets dark early. Our leaders are local to the areas in which they run so we always keep to safe routes and we insist on hi-visibility vests in the dark.
4. Get to know your way around
If you're new to an area, joining a running group is a great way to get to know it. Plus even if you're familiar with the location, you're guaranteed to find little paths and routes you never knew about.
5. Making friends
Another benefit if you've relocated is making friends with like minded people. We're a social bunch, in fact most of the talking only stops when the hills start. Many of our members get together outside the group and have made long standing friendships.
