Run Leader, Committee Member, Membership Secretary and Welfare Officer.
I was originally a cyclist but when I decided to dabble in triathlons I started running in June 2011.
Since then running has become my main passion.
I set up the Kendal branch of WotR in September 2015 after meeting one of the Preston Leaders at a race. I felt there was a gap in accessible low pressure running groups for women in Kendal, and with a little persuasion I was soon qualified as a run leader and found myself on this amazing journey. My aim was to create a sociable, friendly, supportive, and inclusive group where everyone felt welcomed, motivated and valued.
I no longer do triathlons but still enjoy Open Water Swimming and running. I do a little bit of trail running, but personally prefer staying on the roads. On Club nights I can usually be found leading either Green or Amber groups, but I am happy to help which ever group needs me. During the day I work as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at a Primary School in Kendal.
I have an UK Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness license and have attended courses on Safeguarding in Athletics, Adult Welfare, Mental Wellbeing in Sport and Physical Activity, First Aid and, Equality and Diversity in Sport.
As the clubs Welfare Officer I am here to ensure that our running and running related activities are delivered in a way that keeps all our members safe. I am available to speak to should you have any concerns, small or large. You can contact me via email, Facebook messenger or on club nights.
