I started running in March 2016, having been inspired by my friend Judy, who encouraged me to join the group she’d been running with for six months. This was the WotR Thursday group.  I’d never run before.  At all.

I arrived that first evening with a mix of nerves and trepidation.  Would I be too slow? Could I even run?  Would the people be nice?  Was I wearing the right kit?  I needn’t have worried, the ladies were friendly, welcoming and encouraging.

I even enjoyed my first outing, and came back the following week, and the one after that…  Fast forward almost two years, and I am now a qualified group leader having completed my Leadership in Running Fitness in 2017.

I love encouraging and hopefully inspiring other ladies to achieve their goal, I’ve met some lovely people, everyone is so supportive of each other, and we always have fun!  I now run three times a week, and regularly participate in, or volunteer at my local Parkrun.

Two years ago I didn’t even think I could run, but I’m now fitter and stronger than ever before, and ran the Plymouth 10K in October 2017, something I never thought I’d do.  Running is an excellent way to de-stress and easy to fit into a busy life.  I’d say to anyone, do come along, try it!
