About Lauren
For many years I viewed running as just a way to lose weight so I would do it begrudgingly! I would manage a maximum of 4 miles at a time, hating every minute of it and wanting it to be over! Then in January 2021, I went for a run with my sister and managed a 7 miler. Running with someone else made such a difference so I joined WOTR in March 2021 and haven’t looked back.
Joining this group is where my love of running really started. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive that I found the time would fly by and before I knew it, I had run 4 miles without thinking about it! We have a lot of fun and I have made some really great friends who I look forward to seeing every Wednesday for a catch up. I took part in our annual weekend away in Cornwall last November and I’m looking forward to the next!
Running for me isn’t just about keeping fit, (and allowing me to eat cake!), it benefits me mentally in ways that other types of exercise doesn’t. Even heavy rain and strong winds don’t stop me now!
I took part in The Blackdown Beast in January 2022 and I am waiting to hear if I have been selected for the London Marathon! I would never had imagined I would get to where I am now and I genuinely don’t think I could have done with without the group. The group inspire me to keep going and I’m proud to say I’m a member of WOTR.
