About Diane
I moved to East Devon in September 2021. Shortly after arriving I spotted a group of women leaving the TESCO car park in Honiton. They looked a very happy (and chatty) bunch and I thought – ‘that’s what I want to do!’
I only started running during the pandemic when the lockdowns forced all the local gyms and pools to close. One week before the lock-down I completed my first parkrun and was amazed to discover that I could run 5k – albeit on a flat run along the promenade in Weymouth! Of course, now that I live in Devon, the option of ‘flat runs’ is extremely limited, but I enjoy the challenges that our hills present and usually there is a lovely view, once we get to the top.
Since becoming a member of WOTR (Honiton) I have found a lot of lovely friends, who are kind, caring and compassionate and reinforce the positive value of women in society.
I’m not sure how my role as the Welfare Officer will develop, but I’m looking forward to the future and hope that I can give something positive back to WOTR.
