I started running 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 55.  I bought a Fitbit to help me lose weight and I got into challenges with other Fitbit users who challenged each other to try running.  I had never run before but I love a challenge so decided to give it a go.

As I started my journey I found I was inspiring others, friends and family and the encouragement and support was fantastic.  I decided on a goal and that was to run the 10K Race For Life and had 6 months to achieve this.  I achieved my 10K goal sooner by running the women's series run a month before.  I trained harder and completed 3 half marathons before the end of my first year.  In April I completed my first marathon and have completed one half marathon/10K a month.

I achieved all this with the help of a group of fab ladies called Women on the Run.  I tried a couple of sessions having had a friend recommend it to me and found myself looking forward to the drive to Exeter after a days work on a Monday, having previously been too scared to drive out of my local area.

I have lots planned for next year with another marathon and an ultra in the mix and am so excited about my own local run group.

I have made so many friends and have travelled all over to run and I am now hoping to show others all the benefits that can be had from running.
