Hello I’m Rhona Hope – Leader of Topsham Women on The Run.

I started running on my own in 2007 by running around the playing field behind my house and by gradually increasing the number of laps.
Then I took part in the Exeter 5K Race for Life at Westpoint and enjoyed it, this was followed by a 10K race and then a half marathon! At this point I secured a place in the 2010 London Marathon and decided that I now needed to join a running group.
In November 2009, I joined Topsham Women on The Run and I’ve been attending on Tuesday evenings ever since! It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and has resulted in many new friends, numerous races of varying distances and another London Marathon in 2012.
Last year I was invited to become the Topsham group leader and undertook my training with England Athletics, qualifying in May last year.
It’s a great sport and we have a lot of fun in all weathers. Come and try it – I promise you’ll receive a warm welcome.
