I have been running for many years and completed my Leadership in Running and Fitness qualification in 2014.
I was inspired to run by a friend who was a keen runner and so understand the need for support and praise when going from novice to regular runner.
Please come and join our friendly group. It will be our privilege to help and support you.
I have been running for several years but I always used to run on my own.
During my pregnancy and the birth of my son in 2015 I developed severe anxiety, I know how much running can help with mental health issues as I have history of this and I would use running and a healthy diet to keep it in check. It was hard to keep motivated on my own so I took the leap and joined Women on the Run.
I was nervous on my first run with the group but as soon as I arrived I was made to feel very welcome. After 1 year of running with Julie I was encouraged to become a Leader and I completed my Leadership in Running and Fitness qualification in 2017 which was supported by the club.
I am a Mental Health Ambassador for the club. I am a success story of how running, especially with a group, can help with mental wellbeing.
I am also an ambassador for the Devon Girls Can which is part of #Thisgirlcan campaign through Active Devon.
